Development Cooperation

"Improving living conditions in developing and transitional societies"

While humanitarian aid can meet basic needs in a crisis situation, only long term and systematic development cooperation activities can bring sustainable improvements in quality of life of the majority of people in developing and transitional countries. Development programmes seek to improve civil infrastructure, health and education systems, social services, investment and entrepreneurial climate, functioning of public institutions, and a strong and vibrant civil society.

Most of PIPA's development programmes are in countries which have recently suffered natural disasters, conflicts, or have emerged from periods of authoritarian rule. We draw on the experience of a range of Slovak experts, in coordination with local partners in the countries where we operate.
