About us

People in Peril is a non-profit civil society association, established in Slovakia in 1999.

Our mission is to provide effective support to those who suffer the consequences of natural catastrophes, conflicts and authoritarian regimes. Through our activities in Slovakia we strive to contribute to forming open, tolerant and solidary society.

Our activities range from Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation to Human Rights Advocacy and Education and Awareness Raising Activities in Slovakia, which include the One World Documentary Film Festival.

We are a member of the Platform of Non- Governmental Development Organizations in Slovakia. In 2007 we became a partner of the Humanitarian Aid Office of the European Commission- ECHO.

The basic principles of our work are direct aid and effective use of financial means. Read more about how we work

The sources of funds for our activites are diversified. See an overview of our funding in 2009.

Thanks to public support and with the support of a number of donor agencies, during 11 years we have been able to help thousands of people in more than 20 countries.

When working as well as when informing the public about our humanitarian and development activities, we respect ethical principles. In April 2010, we signed the pdf Code of conduct on images and messages, drafted by the CONCORD NGO confederation and adopted by the Slovak NGDO Platform. In case of any objection to our adherence to the Code, please send your feedback to info@peopleinperil.sk.
